What to do when your skin is burnt?
The sun: our warm friend, but sometimes also an insidious enemy. Despite our best efforts with SPF and careful skin protection, occasionally the sun can still surprise us with a red nose or shoulders. Proper care after sunbathing is therefore at least as important as protection before and during.

Prevent skin cancer
We need the sun for Vitamin D. And sun on our snouts, does us good. But be aware that repeatedly exposing yourself to the sun without protection can increase the risk of skin cancer. Can we sunbathe safely actually? No, there is actually no such thing as safe tanning. People are not going to like reading this, I know :-/ The fact that we tan is a sign that we have sun damage. We used to think that we would then be better protected and that our skin naturally protects us from it. But now scientists have figured out that the “tanning process” is a reaction to the damage already suffered. In fact, it is already too late then. However, adding extra antioxidants to your sunscreen can help trap and neutralize the free radicals released during sun exposure so that damage is limited.
What are your recommendations for taking care of the skin after sun exposure?
Bodylotions or aftersun with lots of antioxidants and soothing ingredients such as bisabolol, panthenol, allantoin, ... . If you were really burned then flamigel or flamazine helps. Also cutting up tomatoes and putting them on your burned skin helps as a home remedy, due to the high concentration of lycopene which can act as an antioxidant.
