Mascara that stays put all day? Here’s what you need to know

Nothing is more frustrating than a mascara that promises to lift, lengthen and add volume… but starts smudging or clumping by midday. Panda eyes? We’d rather say no to those.

If your mascara isn’t doing what you want, it’s usually not your lashes’ fault. It’s the combination of formula, technique and preparation.

In this blog, you’ll discover how to find your perfect mascara match, how to apply your mascara properly (and what not to do), and whether a lash primer is more of a hype or a must-have.

Mascara DO'S

  • Use a primer: This creates a more beautiful, long-lasting effect and strengthens the lashes.
  • Curl your lashes: Use an eyelash curler before applying mascara for a beautiful curl.
  • Apply in a zigzag motion: Move the brush from the roots to the tips, back and forth, for even coverage.
  • Let layers dry: Wait a moment between two coats; otherwise, you’ll get clumps (spider-leg effect).
  • Remove every evening: Always remove your mascara before going to bed. Tip: waterproof eye makeup remover
  • Set with powder: A little translucent powder under your eyes can prevent smudging.
  • Use the tip: The tip of the brush is ideal for the lower lashes.

Mascara DON'TS

  • Don’t use waterproof mascara daily: It is difficult to remove and can damage the skin around your eyes.
  • Don’t share: Bacteria spread easily and can cause infections.
  • Don’t pump: Don’t pump the brush in the tube, as this introduces air and dries out the mascara.
  • Don’t use it for too long: Replace your mascara every 3 to 5 months after opening to prevent bacteria.
  • Don’t apply before eyeliner: This can cause clumps and a messy look.
  • Don’t apply before contact lenses: Put your lenses in first to prevent product from getting into your eyes.
  • Don’t apply too much: Lower lashes are more delicate, so clumps are more noticeable. Use the tip of the brush with a back-and-forth motion for an even coat.
  • Don’t wipe immediately: If you make a mess, it’s best to let the smudge dry first. Then take a clean mascara brush and gently rub over it.

Lash primer: what is it and does it really work?

A lash primer coats each eyelash and enhances the effect of your mascara. Your lashes gain length and volume, look more beautifully separated, and your mascara stays looking fresh for longer.

Our Lash Primer Le Merveilleux Peach has a lightweight, caring formula with Acitire (jojoba, mimosa and sunflower waxes), which help keep your lashes soft and supple. All while protecting and hydrating them. Thanks to a unique blend of carnauba wax, peptides and provitamin B5, your lashes gain extra resilience and volume, while the added fibers create a visibly fuller effect that lasts longer.

The result?
Perfectly primed, fuller and longer lashes – ready for your favorite mascara.

STEP 1

Apply the primer to clean, dry lashes. Use slow, even strokes from the base to the tips for a thin, even coat.

STEP 2

Let the primer dry for a few seconds. This allows the formula to set and creates a smooth base that helps your mascara adhere better and stay looking great for longer, without feeling heavy or clumping.

STEP 3

Then apply your favorite mascara while the primer is still slightly flexible, as this creates extra volume, more length, and a fuller lash line that stays sleek and polished all day.
